Feature: The Era of Group C - European Cars
The "Group C" category, which started in 1982, was characterized by its simple rules: closed-body cars with no restrictions on engine displacement or type, competing on engine fuel efficiency to cover the race distance as quickly as possible within a limited fuel allowance. However, a rule change in 1992 mandated the use of only 3.5L naturally aspirated engines, marking the end of the pure "Group C" era in 1991.
During these "10 Years of Group C," European and Japanese manufacturers fiercely competed to develop engines that balanced high fuel efficiency with high power output, while also designing aerodynamically efficient and attractive car bodies. Many cars emerged from this intense competition.
This edition features the captivating European cars that challenged Porsche's dominance with their V6 turbo engines, including the inline 12-cylinder Jaguar, the V8 turbo Mercedes, and Lancia models.
